Porcelain Inlays / Onlays

Porcelain Inlays

Dental inlays are used to treat teeth that have decay or damage lying within their indented top surfaces. They can also be used to replace old or damaged metal fillings. Since dental inlays are made from durable materials like tooth-coloured porcelain, they offer much more enduring and natural-looking results than gold inlays or metal fillings.

In addition, their customized nature allows us to securely bond them to the tooth surface, adding structural integrity and preventing bacteria from entering and forming cavities.

Porcelain Onlays

Onlays are used to treat decay that extends to one or more of the cusps. Onlays are created from tooth-coloured material, which makes them virtually undetectable to the naked eye. Onlays also help to conserve more tooth structure because their use requires minimal removal a tooth’s surface.

Perhaps their most important benefit, however, is that, in saving damaged teeth, onlays help patients avoid the eventual need for more extensive treatment.

Treatment Procedures: CEREC Technology

With CEREC, almost all of our patients can receive porcelain inlays or onlays the same day – in one appointment! The process is completed in-house. Please note, there may be rare cases that still require lab work.

  • Convenience – One visit with fast recovery time and less tooth sensitivity – no messy impressions and uncomfortable temporaries.
  • Quality – The CEREC process constructs durable and perfectly-fitting crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays and on-lays.
  • Versatility – The porcelain materials used are durable and can be matched to the natural shade of your teeth.

Good oral hygiene practices, a proper diet, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new inlay or onlay.
